What is Branding Photography?

BRANDING photography

I define branding photography as photos intended to capture the essence of a business or person’s brand. It goes beyond headshots and includes wider shots, props and environments that represent the business.

What type of photo is the above photo?

I would call it a brand photo, as it shows people what the company does. They clearly do something to do with real estate, probably development since they have a model, they’re standing around a large set of drawings, and there’s a photo of the city behind them. It shows that the company is diverse and equitable because there is a person of colour, a woman, and a white man. They are happy and engaged in discussion. The room is clean, white and minimalist, perfect for having meetings about architectural and development projects.

PORTRAIT or brand photo?

Some pictures can be both! Clearly this is a portrait. It’s not a headshot because you can see more of her body than her head. You can also see the background, so if you assumed she has something to do with designing aesthetically pleasing minimalist kitchens, you would be right.
