What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, but is really just a fancy way of saying “get found online easily”. For example, if you have a business and you want people to find you from your website or online presence, you can do specific things to make sure you’re easily found.
That is what my entire Image Optimist business is built on!
I’ve discovered that there are people with amazing businesses but terrible or out of date websites who if they just did a few fast, free and easy things, they would be well on their way to looking great and getting found online. Let’s get started.
SEO on the most basic level consists of optimizing the following items.
Your Google Business Profile.
Ensuring correct use and placement of keywords, meta descriptions and header tags on your website.
Having accurate and concise descriptions of your business, product or service.
Having clear calls to action for people to engage with your business.
Utilizing blog posts and backlinks to build online credibility.
Image descriptions, captions and file names.
I’ve created a checklist that you can download, to see where you rank on these items. You might not need to do all of them! Just do what you can, every bit helps. Even the act of updating your website tells Google that your business is still alive.
If you don’t need a full rebrand, and only want to make these changes to your website, I have an SEO course you can take and do at your own pace. This is your gentle reminder that others in your industry are paying attention to this.
You can get a lot more complicated than what I’ve listed above. You can dive into coding and development, and deep diving on Google Analytics. But before you do any of that, or pay someone, it makes sense to check all the boxes of the low hanging fruit.
There is no point paying for Google Ads (or Facebook or IG) if your site isn’t easy to use and converting visitors to customers.
